Chief Legal Officer – Inhouse Commercial

Our client is a growing, innovative firm based in SE Asia. Their work is exciting, satisfying and at the forefront of assisting the fast-growing SE Asian business and private sector markets.

They are looking for legal talent to join their team. A confident, positive and energetic person, who enjoys a challenge and wants to make a difference.

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least 15 years’ post-admission experience ideally working with Commercial
  • Unrestricted practising certificate,
  • Experience in commercial law
  • Self-motivated, problem solver and experience in managing own matters and clients
  • Experience with billable hours and billing budgets
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and team skills, good communicator, patient, positive, flexible in approach, good people skills
  • Excellent personal presentation
  • Ability to effectively manage and develop staff
  • Proven ability to effectively select, oversee, and manage outside counsel for cost efficient litigation and dispute resolution to achieve identified business objectives and results
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to synthesize information, exercise sound judgment, make decisions, and render advice in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize workflow based on the company’s priorities and strategic goals.
  • Ability to function as a team player, collaborating with colleagues, clients, and business leaders to further the company’s strategic objectives
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Key accountabilities:

  • Developing and leading corporate legal strategy to promote and protect the company’s matters
  • Developing and leading internal audit and corporate compliance programs
  • Overseeing the delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish corporate goals, strategies and priorities
  • Maintaining proper corporate interactions with the relevant local, state and federal governmental bodies, legislatures and the community at large
  • Advising the CEO and other senior corporate officers on a variety of issues
  • Participating in the formulation of general management policy as a member of the executive management team
  • Managing a team of corporate counsel and other members of the legal department across all entities and AOCs
  • Managing members of the legal department.
  • Adhere to all legal obligations, responsibilities and legislative requirements
