Group Description Our Financial Services Regulation team operates within the broader Capital Markets & Corporate line of business and is a very successful and high performing practice, led by industry experts, with extensive experience across financial services regulation, corporate insurance and regulatory compliance. Richard Batten leads our team in Sydney which undertakes significant regulatory work for clients across the financial sector, including local and global insurers, banks, wealth managers and fintech companies. Role Description Due to a significant growth in the practice, we are looking for a talented Associate to join our specialist team. More About You We welcome applications from Associates who have: At least 3 years of experience in advising on financial services laws Experience advising general and life insurance companies and intermediaries on regulation and distribution arrangements particularly sought Experience in wealth management, ie financial planning, funds and/or superannuation / banking, payment systems, foreign exchange and/or derivatives / licensing / AML/CTF will also be well regarded Preferably a corporate advisory background, however we are willing to consider someone from a litigation / dispute resolution background with relevant experience looking to make a transition into a regulatory advisory role Preferably private practice experience, however we are willing to consider someone with a technical legal in-house background Strong analytical, technical drafting and communication skills Ability to negotiate commercial terms and to assist clients with making difficult decisions Demonstrated ability to form enduring relationships with peers, clients and industry experts A team player attitude and the ability to mentor junior lawyers in the group Resilience and a commitment to provide exceptional levels of service to our local and international client base.
