EI Legal is on the lookout for their next Employment Lawyer to come join the team Junior Employment Lawyer The Firm EI Legal is a specialist employment law firm in a period of rapid growth. We are looking for a junior lawyer who is passionate about employment law and is also interested in growing our business and their own personal brand within it. The Role We are looking for a friendly, dynamic and highly organised lawyer based in Sydney. You will have an opportunity to contribute to the shape and success of the firm whilst still having the support and guidance of experienced employment lawyers. You will gain exposure in a variety of matters such as: Disputes, in particular, unfair dismissal and general protections matters in the Fair Work Commission and Federal Courts Advising on entitlements under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) and modern awards (particularly regarding pay) Advising on complex workplace issues such as termination of employment, redundancies, and transfer of business Advising on, and drafting, employment contracts, workplace policies and other employment documents (e.g., disciplinary letters) EI Legal is part of the Employment Innovations Group – one of Australia’s leading providers of payroll, HR outsourcing and HR software. As such this role provides a unique opportunity to work both as a lawyer in private practice (for EI Legal) and as an in-house lawyer for Employment Innovations. The in-house aspect of your role will involve matters such as: Assisting Employment Innovations’ HR teams with difficult employment law questions Contributing to Employment Innovations’ suite of documents (eg drafting precedent contracts, policies, etc) Training Employment Innovations’ HR teams on employment law matters Though you will have client contact and will be doing “real” legal work from day one, you may also need to carry out certain administrative tasks (answering phones, assisting with opening files, etc). The ideal candidate will: have qualifications in Law and be admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of NSW (or interstate) have up to 3 years post qualification experience (preferably in employment law or HR); have a strong level of client service; have excellent organisational, written and oral communication skills; be a team player who is willing to provide support to other lawyers in the firm; and be passionate about challenging the status-quo and finding better and more innovative ways to deliver legal services to our clients.
