The Opportunity To keep up with rapid growth, we’ve created a new role for a 4 PQE Construction Lawyer with solid Front-End and/or Back-End experience to join our Commercial Contracts practice group. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced lawyer from a leading private practice firm or with quality in-house experience to accelerate their career and master their craft alongside seasoned construction lawyers. We have a broad client base, ranging from large, multinational clients through to SMEs. While we largely focus on front-end projects, we’re expanding our back-end practice. Accordingly, this position suits a versatile lawyer, looking to expand their knowledge base and skill set in a fast-paced, friendly and collaborative environment. What You Will Be Doing Perform exceptional legal drafting and advice work for our clients – you’ll be drafting, reviewing and negotiating construction and procurement contracts (both residential and commercial projects) and advising clients on regulatory requirements in the building and construction industry on a wide range of disputes. Working with the Practice Leaders and Senior Lawyers in our Disputes team, you’ll be running residential and commercial disputes matters, including: drafting court documents and correspondence; advising and working directly with clients; briefing counsel, and helping to build our construction disputes practice. Own client relationships and be in charge of building the value of those relationships – you’ll be expected to take ownership, and be the client contact, for a range of construction and general commercial matters. Build skills and knowledge outside of your area of expertise – our legal teams work together across a range of commercial practice areas (including consumer and privacy law) while maintaining their own specialities. Collaborate closely with your Practice Leaders and be part of a fun, fast-paced and supportive team. The Ideal Candidate Quality experience: 4 PQE experience at a rated mid or top-tier firm or quality in-house environment, working on a broad range of front-end and back-end matters (preferably in both the residential and commercial spaces). Efficient: Prioritises effectively; focuses on what matters; smashes it out, then goes home. Commercial: Has business acumen; understands the building and construction industry; cares about growth. Autonomous: Likes help, but doesn’t need it; owns their work and capable of working independently; loves responsibility and working directly with clients (SME through to in-house counsel). Communication: Manages to keep on top of a high volume of different tasks for different clients, and maintains excellent communication with clients.
