Full time maximum term position up to 7 months Salary commensurate with experience, range: $70,578 – $91,333 plus superannuation Attractive employee benefits including salary packaging About the role: We are seeking a motivated lawyer to join our Ballarat team, providing legal aid services to clients in the Central Highlands region. In this role you will undertake a range of responsibilities including duty lawyering, case work and advice services in a range of legal matters, with a primary focus on criminal law, child protection and family violence. You will have the opportunity to broaden your impact in the region by actively contributing to the development of strategies to improve client services and participate in community legal education projects as required. About you: You have sound knowledge and experience as a legal practitioner, particularly in criminal law, child protection and/or family violence matters, and are committed to understanding and responding to the particular needs of legal aid clients in the Central Highland’s region. You are able to quickly adapt to working in a new team and environment and will take a flexible approach to working from various locations as required including the Ballarat office, local courts and tribunals, outreach service locations and from home. Further to this you have a demonstrated ability to work well within a team and consciously contribute to a supportive and cooperative environment. Crucial to your success in the role will be your interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and work effectively with clients who are experiencing economic and social disadvantage.
