The Opportunity To join us at this exciting time of growth, we are looking for an ambitious and experienced Lawyer to be an integral part of the expert Government, Environment and Planning team within our Legal branch. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel, Government, Environment and Planning, you’ll act as a trusted advisor and provide legal advice and services on environmental and planning law, property acquisition (including compulsory acquisition), road and rail network access, native title and related litigation on a range of legal matters across the organisation to ensure compliance with relevant frameworks and legislation. You will have the opportunity to work on exciting and engaging matters including high-profile infrastructure projects which means your work will contribute meaningfully to delivering on Transport for NSW’s strategy. About You We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic legal professional who has proven experience working on Planning and environmental assessment law and preferably also experience in one, or more, of the following related areas of law; Property Acquisition Native Title and Aboriginal land law Roads Act 1993/common law of highways Environmental compliance You will be a problem-solver with strong analytical skills, who is able to collaborate and communicate effectively with a broad range of professionals from both legal and non-legal backgrounds. To be considered for the role you must have: Tertiary qualifications in law and hold, or are eligible to hold, an unrestricted NSW practising certificate. A minimum of 3-5 years post qualification experience in Planning and Environment law gained in a law firm, in-house or government environment.
