For more information on the work we do at NSW EPA, go to Primary purpose of the role The Lead, Audit and Assurance is responsible for managing the Regulatory Assurance and Performance (RAP) Framework and is the Chief Audit Executive responsible for providing strategic leadership and managing the internal audit function within the agency. The role leads the development and management of the RAP Framework, providing a platform to objectively monitor, evaluate and review the EPA’s regulatory work to support continuous improvement and risk management and responsible for the internal audit function, providing independent and objective assurance in relation to the EPA’s system of internal control and its operations and programs.   The Lead Audit and Assurance also provides guidance and assistance across the EPA on the participation in and response to internal and external audits and reviews, and monitors and reports on the implementation of recommendations from audits and reviews to the Executive and the Audit and Risk Committee.  Key Accountabilities • Manage the RAP Framework and the EPA’s internal audit function using an intelligence-based approach to support continuous improvement and risk management in regulatory activities. • Provide expert guidance and assistance across the EPA on the participation in and response to internal and external audits and reviews, and monitors and reports on the implementation of recommendations from audits and reviews. • Provide strategic advice into the development and implementation of policies, systems and regulatory functions informed by the findings of internal and external reviews. • Direct the review, analysis and evaluation of program effectiveness and performance in meeting regulatory and compliance outcomes, legislative obligations, government priorities and auditing and reporting requirements.
