Legal Counsel role with a global custodian | Advise on banking, securities, funds & investments | 12 month FTC Your new company Hays Legal have partnered with a global investment bank as they look to add a Legal Counsel to their team of 10 Lawyers, for an initial 12 month contract. This organisation operates in an interesting and dynamic international financial services environment and is seen as a leader in their field. Your new role This role will support the Securities Services Business across Australia and New Zealand. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Supporting the business in the provision of legal and regulatory advice; Assisting in the review, negotiation and drafting of contracts with sub-custodians and other service providers, including IT vendors; Assisting the Senior Counsel’s with legal and regulatory change advice; Support sales and relationship managers in their commercial negotiations; Providing regulatory advice on the financial services landscape, including on new products and services; Assisting with PDS review, legal disclaimers, incident reports and document management; Reporting to Head of Legal and various Committees; Working with the business and legal team to establish best practice. What you’ll need to succeed Australian legal qualifications and a current Australian practising certificate; 2-4 years’ legal experience in the financial services sector from either a leading tier law firm or another financial institution; Knowledge in financial services, financial markets and/or products; Previous experience with Banking, Funds, Custody or Clearing is highly beneficial. An understanding of project management and stakeholder management would be very well regarded.
