Application Closes: 12th February 2021 Role: Senior Legal Policy Officer, Directions Implementation and Operations (Role until – 30 June 2021) Number of vacancies available: 1 Office Location(s) : 50 Lonsdale Street/Work from home Position Summary: The COVID Directions Senior Legal Policy Officer will work as part of the COVID Directions Policy and Implementation team and is responsible for interpreting endorsed Government directives, regulations and policy relating to the department’s COVID-19 response, drafting responses to complex queries, and driving team templates and core messaging. Responsibilities: Operational Service Delivery Analyse, interpret and apply the COVID-19 Directions made by the Deputy Chief Health Officer, public health policy and legislation Respond to Ministerial, internal DHHS and inter-governmental queries regarding interpretation and application of the Directions Draft written responses to complex queries escalated from the COVID Directions team or referred by Executive team Liaise with Public Health Command, Legal Services Branch and Communications and Media to coordinate delivery of consistent and accurate advice Draft Possible Parliamentary Questions and Questions on Notice Assist in the development of COVID Directions response templates, Physical Distancing talking points and policy frameworks which align to relevant directives and regulations Work to business rules in order to achieve KPIs Plan and prioritise work to ensure outcomes are achieved. Contribute to the operational efficiency and continuous improvement of the team Operate as an effective branch member in a team environment and deliver quality and timely service to managers and staff Keep accurate and complete records of work activities in accordance with the department’s requirements Other tasks as required on shift Undertake relevant training as required/requested Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Communicate directly with stakeholders to provide information and advice on the interpretation and application of the COVID Directions Provide information to a range of stakeholders, including the general public, organisations, peak bodies, Ministerial offices, and other DHHS stakeholders, among others Strategic engagement with general community and stakeholders Focuses on understanding stakeholder issues Explains concepts to a range of stakeholders as outlined above Develops effective relationships with key stakeholders Strategy & Planning Development and maintenance of consistent messaging across COVID Directions and Physical Distancing teams Contributes to strategic planning and engagement Uses specialist knowledge within a confined field to challenge policies and professional concepts Applies complex concepts to policy development or research How to Apply: Applicants are encouraged to apply online, submitting a cover letter and a current resume.
